Asda is venturing into the fashion retail space. The supermarket giant has officially opened its first stand-alone store for its George clothing brand in a launch event headlined by Spice Girl, Mel B. Next has called on its shareholders to vote against a resolution requesting for the British fashion retailer to disclose how it pays employees to address concerns over employee wages. A group of investors is hoping Next will increase its transparency and improve conditions for shop floor workers by revealing how many of its 40,000 staff are paid below the real living wage.

US retail company Vince Holding Corp. has been issued with a noncompliance notice from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) after its market capitalisation fell below the listing standards. In a regulatory filing, Vince said it did not, at this moment, satisfy NYSE’s continued listing standard, which requires the company’s 30-day trading day average market capitalisation to be at least 50 million dollars and its stockholders’ equity to be at least 50 million dollars.

Over the week spanning May 4 to 10, footfall across the UK saw a notable 3.3 percent decline compared to the week prior, largely driven by a significant 4.8 percent drop in high street activity. Retail parks and shopping centres also recorded declines, albeit less substantial, of 1.2 and 2.5 percent, respectively.
