My husband and I adopted four children within a span of seven years. I distinctly remember the day my oldest turned nine months old. I was rocking her in her nursery when it dawned on me that she had been with me for as long as she had been with her first mother. This revelation brought me to tears. The allure of passive income hooked me, and I decided to start an online T-shirt business. The videos I'd watched online about the process grossly underestimated the time and work involved. Despite some initial success, the workload and stress outweighed the benefits, and I closed up shop. In the summer of last year, a friend sent me a video she'd watched that explained how easy it was to set up an online business and make passive income.

In 2022, Illinois passed a law allowing kids to take five excused days from school. As a mom of four kids, two of which are teenagers, I'm grateful that this is an option for them.
