The March to Gaza is off after a tumultuous weekend that saw Canadians detained and deported, passports removed and piled haphazardly on the ground, and that saw police beat demonstrators for trying to travel between Cairo and Ismailia. I spent my weekend speaking with a marcher, Canadian physician Yipeng Ge, who was there for it all. I also spoke with Global Affairs Canada about a Canadian who went missing for more than 24 hours at the hands of the Egyptian police.

Thousands of people are gathering to march towards the Rafah crossing, where they’re hoping to break Israel’s siege on Gaza. Palestinians are starving to death as lines of trucks wait outside Gaza’s walls. Israel is only allowing a trickle of aid to enter the region, and distribution of the meagre supplies has been politically motivated and deadly. “They are starving while trucks full of food are blocked. They are dying while the world negotiates. Gaza has no time left.

This week, we've got primary care physician Yipeg Ge on the show. We spoke on Tuesday, because on Wednesday, Yipeng left to join people from around the world who are heading toward the Rafah crossing in Egypt to break Israel’s siege on Gaza. While the goal isn't to enter Gaza this time, he has been on the ground before. Yipeng previously traveled to Gaza to provide aid and medical care. He’s got more strength of character than most of our elected officials blended together.

I finally heard back from government departments about some provisions that have people worried in the government’s massive new border bill, Bill C-2. There’s just one hitch: their response got key information wrong, which suggests the government might not be aware of what’s in their own Bill. I’ve got the receipts to prove it.
