    Laurence Menswear owner, Laurence Morris, popped into The Chiltern Centre on Thursday to drop off a donation for £1000 to the Henley charity. £850 of the total came from local residents donations’ collected at the Christmas Festival evening held in the town centre. The amount was then rounded up to £1000 by Laurence himself.

    Despite the weekend’s snowy conditions, Badgemore Golf Club’s AGM went ahead on Saturday and saw out going Men’s Club Captain, Melvyn Keen, present a cheque for £12,853.82 to Charlotte Dingley, who was representing the charity Cure Usher Syndrome. Every year, the club captain chooses a charity to fundraise for during their time in the post and Melvyn explained that he wanted to choose a charity that was smaller and less well known than some and something close to his heart.

    Christmas celebrations were in full swing on Monday afternoon, when Bluebells Day Centre held their annual Christmas party. The charity, which provides day care two days a week for those living with dementia, invited friends, family and carers along to the Christ Church Centre in Henley, where the group meet.

    This year’s Mayor’s Christmas card has been created by Clemmie O’Hanlon, Trinity School’s first winner of the annual competition. This year’s theme was ‘A Merry Christmas on the River in Henley’ and Clemmie, aged 7, beat off stiff competition from over 60 other entries. The Mayor, Councillor Rory Hunt and his consort and Mum Lindsay Hunt judged the competition last Wednesday and the lucky winners and runners up were then told.
