The company reported its commercial division continues to perform strongly and the orders reflect strong ongoing momentum for its equipment and services across GEO, MEO, and LEO Very High Throughput Satellite (VHTS) constellations. The demand spans multi-service applications, with particular emphasis on in-flight connectivity (IFC).

Satellite ground technology startup Northwood Space has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round led by Alpine Space Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). Also Capital, Founders Fund, and StepStone Group joined as major investors and the round also included participation from BoxGroup, Humba Ventures, Balerion Space Ventures, Banter Capital, Long Journey, Aabid Razvi, Evan Loomis, and Adrian Aoun. Northwood Space is led by CEO Bridgit Mendler, former Disney Channel actress.

Globalsat Group will deploy a hybrid satellite and LTE connectivity solution across railway operations for VLI Logística in Brazil, under a new deal announced Tuesday. This project will provide faster communication for the logistics company. It will enable real-time fleet monitoring, and support a future “positive train control” system to monitor and automatically control trains.

The latest resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) launched early Monday included new in-space drug development technology by Redwire. Redwire launched a high-volume industrial crystallizer that is capable of processing up to 200 times the volume of samples than its previous platform for in-space pharmaceutical development, PIL-BOX. Redwire said the goal is to turn insights from the PIL-BOX investigations into large-scale production for commercial applications.

The framework flows from the appreciation that the military space operations are foundational to joint force operations, enabling global communications, power projection, and long-range kill chains.
