The University at Buffalo will search for a new women’s basketball coach, only days after winning the WNIT championship. Becky Burke, who coached the women’s basketball program from April 2022 through this season, is expected to become the next head coach at Arizona. The Arizona Daily Star originally reported the move, which an athletic department source confirmed to The Buffalo News.

Becky Burke has quickly become a coaching commodity. SBNation reported Tuesday evening that Burke, the University at Buffalo’s women’s basketball coach, is one of two finalists for the women’s basketball coaching opening at Arizona. UB finished 30-7 and won the WNIT championship Saturday with a win against Troy.

The University at Buffalo women’s basketball team will likely lose a player who was considered to be among its top returnees for the 2025-26 season. Kirsten Lewis-Williams, a guard for the Bulls the last two seasons, announced Monday on her social media channels that she will enter her name in the transfer portal. Her announcement comes two days after UB won the WNIT championship at Alumni Arena.
