The feeling of waking up as a national champion is still surreal to Carlin Hartman. Even as he is juggling being a parent, recruiting players and planning for next season β he is in a busy time in the wake of the NCAA Tournament. Hartman, a 1990 Grand Island High School graduate, is associate head coach of the Florida menβs basketball team, which won the national championship April 7 with a 65-63 victory against Houston in San Antonio.

Summer Hemphill has witnessed Kristen Sharkeyβs evolution in coaching. Hemphill joined the University at Buffalo womenβs basketball team in 2016, after the Bulls made the NCAA Tournament for the first time and a little more than a year into Sharkeyβs seven seasons as an assistant coach for the Bulls. Now, Hemphill is on a career path akin to Sharkeyβs. UB introduced Sharkey as its head coach Wednesday at Alumni Arena.
