More and more landlords are setting up limited companies as they try to shelter more of their profits from the taxman amid tougher tax reliefs and higher interest rates. For many buy-to-let owners, it is the only way they can balance the books.

He has already delivered on his promise to take a "chainsaw" to government red tape and public spending, laying off 50,000 civil servants and repealing dozens of regulations.
