HARTFORD, Conn. — The Northern Lights could be visible in New England on Thursday night. The forecast of a G3 magnetic storm means chances will be good to see the Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights. Three Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) are already inbound and an additional fourth storm has prompted the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center to upgrade a G2 watch to a G3 watch. CMEs are large expulsions of plasma and magnetic field from the sun's corona, according to the NOAA.

CONNECTICUT, USA — Tropical Storm Lee is churning through the open waters of the Atlantic and it is expected to soon become a major hurricane as it approaches the Caribbean. Lee, which is the 12th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, was located about 1,265 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands. It had a maximum sustained winds of 65 mph and was moving west-northwest at 14 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
