For more than a decade, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) has partnered with ReConnect Rondo, a community-led effort to repair and restore a once-thriving neighborhood of middle-class Black families in St. Paul, Minnesota. At its peak, Rondo was home to more than 80 percent of the city’s African American population. In the late 1950s and 1960s, however, Rondo was devastated by the construction of I-94.

By Rachel RosnerOn Sunday, Sept. 17, roughly 75,000 folks gathered within the streets of New York City with a clear and singular message: End fossil fuels. I had the privilege of being there with my 21-year-outdated daughter, Bella, who was regularly tearing up, moved by the facility of the collective power of the group and a sense of reduction from figuring out that so many individuals are moved to motion within the face of the climate emergency.
