Google’s badge highlights whether a VPN service has been independently audited by a security firm. Google launched the App Defense Alliance (ADA) in 2019 to protect Android and Google Play Store users from harmful apps. The FBI has warned that North Korean hackers have been posing as remote IT workers at US firms by using VPN services. FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) officials have said thousands of IT workers have been using VPNs, along with other tactics, to contract with US companies. For years, workers have secretly sent millions of dollars back to North Korea, with funds reportedly going towards its ballistic missile programme. It’s unknown when the campaign began.

Cofense Phishing Defence Center (PDC), has identified a phishing campaign targeting LinkedIn users. It has been reported that a suspicious number of phishing messages were sent via LinkedIn. Smart Links are offered to business accounts as part of the Sales Navigator service. Smart Links are used to reach out to other LinkedIn users – the links are trackable and allow senders to track engagement.
