    Workers at the Post Office on New Providence yesterday staged a protest over what they claim is disrespectful treatment by Acting Postmaster General Shervonne Johnson. Dozens of workers gathered outside the Post Office’s location at the Town Centre Mall holding placards and chanting, “Shervonne got to go”. The placards read: “We demand a change in leadership.     The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has found that The Bahamas’ housing stock has not kept up with the country’s continued population growth, and has called on the government to do more to address the issue. “Though the population in The Bahamas has expanded swiftly since 2010, the stock and affordability of new housing has not kept pace due to limited wage growth and financing constraints,” an IMF report on the affordability of housing in The Bahamas said.

    As conditions in Haiti continue to worsen, Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Commodore Dr. Raymond King said yesterday that an ongoing operation in the southeast Bahamas has been successful in interrupting migration attempts. King said there has not been a notable uptick in apprehensions in recent weeks, but said the RBDF statistics do not account for the work of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) near the northern coast of Haiti.

    Aisha Bowe made history yesterday as the first Bahamian to fly to space on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. The 38-year-old former NASA rocket scientist and entrepreneur was part of a six-woman flight team that included journalist Gayle King and the singer Katy Perry — the first all-woman crew in space since 1963. Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis described Bowe’s accomplishment as a “proud and historic moment”.
