A thug who threatened to 'rape, murder and behead' DWP staff turned his attention to a support worker at a homeless facility and told her: "You're next." Philip Lewis hurled abuse at the woman - who he had previously got along with - and returned the next day to repeat his threats. He also launched a racist verbal attack on a council worker who stepped in to calm an altercation in Chorley town centre the following day. The 50-year-old has now been jailed for 17 weeks.

A prolific burglar is back behind bars after he raided the home of an elderly couple in Morecambe. Craig Marsden, 54, has been jailed for two years and five months after pleading guilty to the burglary. Preston Crown Court heard how the householder, who lived with his frail wife, left the house at 9.45am on April 8, 2025. He returned at 12.30pm to discover the patio door had been smashed and items strewn across the floor.

A family celebration turned into a nightmare when a member of the party was slashed across the face by a man he had never met before. Jordan O'Brien was high on drink and drugs when he became aggressive towards the man outside the Spitfire pub in Darwen. His victim had been celebrating a wedding anniversary and had gone to the pub with family members to carry on the party on November 20, 2024. He had come across O'Brien, 25, outside the pub and the pair had chatted, without issue.
