Mother's Day is this Sunday, and U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen from Colorado's 7th congressional district is using the day to send a message. She said for many Colorado moms, the day might be filled with some angst over cuts to federal spending. At Jeffco Head Start on Friday, Pettersen met with community advocates and mothers who rely on federal programs like Medicaid, Head Start and SNAP; programs that may be at risk due to proposed budget cuts.

Thousands of students from Denver Public Schools were at Empower Field at Mile High on Wednesday and Thursday to explore future career paths.
