    A man was shot in Dorchester late Saturday night near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street. Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call, and at the scene found an adult male with a gunshot wound. Boston EMS transferred the victim to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the police report. This is an active investigation with the Boston Police Department Homicide Unit. This is a developing story.

    A Lynn man will spend at least 17 years in state prison for shooting a man in 2014 who died from related complications five years ago, Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office said Wednesday. Derick Jesus Jimenez, 27, was sentenced to 17 years to life in prison for the death of Dajan Gilmore Jones, a 24-year-old Lynn resident, Tucker’s office said in a statement. Jimenez was convicted of second degree murder on Jan. 21 following a murder trial in Salem Superior Court, the statement said.

    Thousands gathered at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center in Roxbury on Sunday to celebrate Ramadan’s conclusion. Throughout the morning, over 2,000 people circulated the mosque which hosted four prayers starting at 7:00 a.m. They prayed, ate and greeted one another. After each prayer, the traditional “Eid Mubarak” echoed through the crowd as families and friends exchanged warm wishes.
