Power was almost entirely restored in Spain and Portugal early Tuesday, after a massive outage hit tens of millions people across the countries and parts of France, grounding aircrafts, disrupting traffic and bringing daily life to a grinding halt. All 6.4 million electricity consumers in Portugal were once again receiving power, the country's government said Tuesday, adding that while trains and airports had resumed operations, there was still “some recovery to be done” at Lisbon’s main airport.

By and American-Israeli hostage Sagui Dekel-Chen spent “the vast majority” of his almost 500 days in captivity not knowing that his family had survived Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack or that his wife had given birth to their third child while he was held in Gaza, his father told NBC News. The 36-year old was released from Hamas captivity on Saturday along with two other hostages in exchange for 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
