CHICAGO — Rising Chicago punk band Scarlet Demore will wrap up the year with two shows: a Halloween performance this week at Lincoln Hall and a spot in the winter edition of Beach Bunny’s Pool Party Festival at Thalia Hall. Chicago bands Yada Yada and La Rosa Noir alongside Minneapolis’ Bugsy will open for Scarlet Demore Friday at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. CHICAGO — Local filmmaker Alexander Eberhage’s new, debut documentary “Ballet Bat” explores an unsung hero of filmmaking: the movement double behind Batman’s graceful and powerful on-screen presence in the 1989 movie. Eberhage’s film centers on Carl Newman, a professional ballet dancer brought in to lend his graceful movements to Tim Burton’s 1989 film, “Batman.” Eberhage, a film student at DePaul with a background in narrative filmmaking, discovered Newman’s story through a podcast.

CITYWIDE — Popcorn fans can celebrate Garrett Popcorn Shops’ 75th anniversary with $1.75 bags of their signature flavors, available for a limited time as part of a special promotion. Between 1 and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday this week, fans can pop into any Garrett shop to purchase a small bag of their favorite popcorn — like CaramelCrisp, CheeseCorn and the Garrett Mix, a blend of those two — for just $1.75, according to a news release from the company.

CHICAGO — One Tail at a Time is looking for a forever home for its first interspecies bonded pair: Scooter, a shy, large-breed puppy, and Socker Bopper, a tiny but fearless kitten. Scooter and Socker Bopper formed a deep and inseparable bond while in foster care, according to a press release from the animal rescue.
