Abstract: Simple SummaryThe role of aquaporins (AQPs) in the adaptation of amphibious fishes to terrestrial environments was investigated using genome mining, phylogenetics, molecular evolution, and protein structure modelling. Evidence of adaptive evolution was found in 21 AQPs belonging to 5 different classes but predominantly to the AQP11 class.
