    KARACHI, Pakistan — On April 18, members of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan, a far-right Islamist populist political party, killed a 46-year-old Ahmadi Muslim man named Laeeq Ahmad Cheema outside an Ahmadiyya hall in Karachi. Six days later, on April 24, armed extremists targeted two Ahmadi youngsters, Muhammad Asif and Ehsan Ahmad, in Punjab. Asif, a 19-year-old student, was fatally shot, while Ehsan got severe wounds.

    The Newspaper’s Staff Reporter Published June 4, 2025  LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has asked the Punjab police chief to prevent Ahmadiyya community from observing Islamic rituals on the occasion of Eidul Azha and take action against its members if found violating the law. A letter written by the LHCBA to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab states that the Eidul Azha is a sacred Muslim festival and to perform the associated rituals is specific to the Muslims.

In the Punjab province of Pakistan, police reportedly forced Ahmadis to sign affidavits pledging not to observe Eid rituals, warning of fines up to Rs 500,000 (PKR) for non-compliance.

    The fifth act of Islamic worship is the performing of the Hajj or the pilgrimage to Mecca. A Muslim must perform this pilgrimage at least once in his lifetime if economic and political conditions are favourable. The focal point of this pilgrimage is the Ka’ba, which was rebuilt by Prophet Abraham some 4,000 years ago.
