The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) lost no time in writing to President-elect Trump, seeking his endorsement of its Hindu American policy and issue priorities for 2025. HAF heralded the plan as the “Hindu American Project 2025,” an obsequious nod to Project 2025, whose implementation even in parts would mean disastrous consequences for millions of Americans, including Indian Americans.

As a Hindu, I can totally relate to Rahul Gandhi’s anguish expressed in his inaugural speech in Parliament on July 1 that some of those who engage in violence and are guilty of hate speech are proudly calling themselves Hindu. I too am greatly troubled by the Sangh Parivar’s frequent claim to be speaking for all Hindus. They most certainly do not.

But the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had aimed for 400 seats and later revised its target to 370, fell way short of expectations. Although it surpassed the 272 seats needed to form the government, it secured only 294 seats.
