Data analysis The study was powered to detect a difference in ADL between participants with and without postoperative delirium in the PACU. Based on the incidence of postoperative delirium in the PACU (14%) from a previous study (Radtke et al., 2008), it was estimated that 270 participants would be required to detect a significant difference between the two groups at the 5% significance level with 80% power.
