Netflix will unveil the second season of DreamWorks TV’s CG-animated preschool series Mighty Monsterwheelies on May 5. This homage to the Universal Monster vault will offer more action-packed hijinks and rescue missions in their home of Motorvania. The voice cast includes Tru Valentino, Grace Lu, Sandra Saad, Cal Brady, Matt Lowe, Chester Rushing, Weird Al Yankovic, Sean Astin and Ashley Park.

Sony announced today it will release Mamoru Hosoda’s much-anticipated new movie, Scarlet, in U.S. theaters on Dec. 12 this year. The studio also revealed the striking new poster for the movie, which centers on a brave princess who transcends space and time. Sony Pictures is also co-financing the new film with Studio Chizu and Nippon TV. The film’s producers are Yuichiro Saito and Nozomu Takahashi for Studio Chizu and Toshimi Tanio for Nippon TV.

French movie sales company Charades has taken on director Tomohiko Ito’s new animated feature The Keeper of the Camphor Tree. Produced by Japanese studio Aniplex, the movie is based on Keigo Higashino’s best-selling novel, the first animated adaptation of the popular author’s work. The film’s animation will be produced by Aniplex’s subsidiary, A-1 Pictures. The film is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2026.

Mofac/Angel Studios’ recent release The King of Kings, an animated feature about the life of Jesus Christ, as told by Charles Dickens to his son, has become the biggest S. Korean movie in terms of box office in the U.S. Written and directed by Jang Seong-ho, head of Mofac Studios, the movie was released on April 11 and performed very well in the U.S. during the Easter holiday weekend.

Renowned British cinematographer and vfx artist Bruce Logan, best known for his work on sci-fi classics such as 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and Tron (1982) has passed away at age 78 in Los Angeles. According to is wife, Mariana Campos-Logan, he died on April 10 after a short illness. Born on May 15, 1946, Logan was drawn to making animated films at age 14, and eventually he began making vfx-driven projects at 19.

Actor-writer-director Ramy Youssef’s new Prime Video series #1 Happy Family USA takes viewers back to 2001-era America, and offers a clear-eyed view at the experiences of an Arab-American family as they try to fit in and survive in a world impacted by hate and prejudice. The 2D-animated show, which features the voices of Youssef, Alia Shawkat, Mandy Moore, Salma Hindy, Timothy Olyphant and Kieren Culkin, is described as being “inspired by the childhood nightmares” of Youssef.
