Unprecedented aluminum molecular ring based-layer with tailorable optical limiting effect The uncontrolled assembly of Al(III) octahedra makes the synthesis of related two-dimensional (2D) compounds unpredictable, thus limiting their potential applications. In contrast to traditional synthesis methods, we propose a stepwise synthetic approach based on aluminum molecular rings.

From Aluminum Oxo Cluster to Aluminum Oxo Cluster Organic Cage Yi Zhang, Ran-Qi Chen, San-Tai Wang, Yajie Liu, Wei-Hui Fang and Jian Zhang Abstract Present herein is an example of aluminum oxo cluster (AlOC) to aluminum oxo cluster organic cage (AlOCOC). We successfully synthesized the first example of an aluminum cluster-based organic cage-Al12 tetrahedral cage via Al3 cluster.
