Unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas revealed that Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 8.500 migrants who illegally crossed the southwest border from Mexico in May. This is up slightly from the nearly 8,500 arrested in April. It represents the second consecutive month of increases following record-shattering declines in migrant apprehensions following President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.

Houston-based ICE ERO officers carried out deportations of serious criminal offenders as the agency has ramped up mass deportation efforts nationwide. According to ICE, the removals that took place between May 19 and May 30 included eight documented gang members, 11 previously convicted child predators, and a criminal alien responsible for entering the United States illegally more than 20 times.

The mid-afternoon protest on Monday began with a press conference where speakers from the PSL and several immigrant rights groups lambasted the increase in illegal alien arrests by ICE in the Alamo City. Speakers criticized some of the arrests that had recently taken place on the federal immigration court grounds. Attendees carried signs, including some comparing ICE to the Gestapo. They called for the release of Mahmoud Khalil.

ICE issued a brief statement regarding the worksite enforcement action, saying, “On May 30, ICE San Antonio conducted an enforcement action on the northwest side of San Antonio. This operation resulted in the arrest of several individuals who were in the United States unlawfully. No further details are available at this time.”ICE did not provide any information concerning the number of illegal aliens arrested.

According to the United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, the sixty criminal cases date from May 19. As reported by Breitbart Texas, in mid-May, U.S. Chief Magistrate Judge Gregory Wormuth in Las Cruces, New Mexico, dismissed 100 federal criminal cases involving trespassing charges against nearly 100 illegal aliens arrested for crossing into the newly designated National Defense Area in New Mexico.
