At Monday night’s City Council meeting during Miscellaneous, Second Ward Councilwoman Tina Boggess noted that a special ceremony will be held during Juneteenth at Hubbard Park at noon, in partnership with the NAACP. “During that celebration of Juneteenth, we will have a grand-breaking ceremony that will begin the North Central Neighborhood Sidewalk Revitalization Project,” Boggess told KSIS after the meeting.

A Lincoln teen was killed and three others were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon in southeastern Pettis County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2001 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 19-year-old male from Windsor, was on McVey Road, west of Bohon Road, around 2:30 p.m., when the Silverado, traveling at a high rate of speed, traveled off the left side of the roadway. The truck then returned to the roadway and traveled off the right side.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a Blue Alert Monday morning after Lee’s Summit Police responded to a domestic disturbance Sunday night and was allegedly shot by 27-year-old Thomas Eugene Tolbert, a 6’2” black male who weighs 240 pounds. The incident happened around 11 p.m., at 3560 Hollywood Drive in Lee’s Summit. After a short foot pursuit, Tolbert shot the officer with a 10mm handgun. Tolbert then left the scene in a vehicle that was later recovered in Grandview.
