    A special ceremony was held Thursday evening by Sedalia Parks & Rec to celebrate the recently completed $2.6 million renovation of Dey Field at Liberty Stadium, built in 1937 as a Works Progress Administration project. Professional Contractors and Engineers (PCE), Columbia, was the general contractor on the project. Work began Aug. 7 and was originally expected to be finished by May 22, but was pushed back. The ceremony took place on the last day of spring.

    The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that took place Tuesday, June 17 in the Finey area. At approximately 11:33 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of SE 1251 Private Road after receiving a report that Jody James, 54, of Deepwater, had been fatally shot by her significant other, Harold D. James, 75, also of Deepwater. James fled the scene in a silver Ford pickup. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office was immediately notified.
