The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control arrested of Randall L. Wheeldon, 58, of Independence, on May 8. On May 7, troopers assigned to a gambling facility in Kansas City, MO, were notified of a person of interest in a child pornography investigation. DDCC Special Victims Unit investigators worked with area troopers to investigate Wheeldon’s alleged involvement with child pornography.

A Holden woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday morning in Johnson County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2019 Buick Enclave, driven by a 54-year-old woman from Holden, was on Missouri Route O in the 500 block around 6:30 a.m., when the Buick traveled off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected and the Buick overturned and struck an embankment.

A benefit concert will be held at Sedalia Moose Lodge 1494 on Friday, June 6 from 4 to 8 p.m., at 119 Winchester Drive. The event is a fund-raiser for injured Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputies DeHaven and Brown and their families, it was noted. A concert from 6 to 8 p.m., will feature Trevon Dawson and the Cedar Creek Band. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, a bake sale, prize drawings and an Italian dinner by Local Eats and Sweets available that night. Tickets are $10 each.

The National Association of Letter Carriers will hold their annual “Stamp Out Hunger” Food drive Saturday, May 10. Locally, that means if you leave a bag of healthy, non-perishable food by your mail box this Saturday, it will get picked up by volunteers and delivered to Open Door and Salvation Army food pantries. The NALC said this is the nation’s largest one-day food drive, and you can be a part of it. Blue bags were left in your mailbox on Wednesday for that very purpose.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, May 12 and continuing until 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, West 12th Street from South Kentucky Avenue to South Osage Avenue will be closed. The City of Sedalia’s Utilities Staff will be working along West 12th Street to repair a sewer main. Heavy equipment and workers will be operating in and near the roadway during this period.
