Comparative study of MFT-like gene sequences in S. melongena with transcripts of its wild relative, S. incanumThe MFT-like genes were mined from the de novo assembled transcriptome sequences of S. incanum, the wild relative of S. melongena. The coding sequences of SmMFT-1 gene had one variation as compared to the MFT-1 transcript of S. incanum (hereafter referred to as SiMFT-1). The corresponding amino acid variation from Threonine (T) to Serine (S) was predicted to be tolerated (SIFT analysis).
