Faubus opposed integration, despite court rulings, claiming it was his duty to maintain segregation. In 1957, when federal courts ordered the integration of Little Rock’s Central High School, Faubus deployed the Arkansas National Guard to block Black students.

My educational inheritance amounted to my mother’s Mexican grade school education, my grandfather’s eight grades in San Diego, and my uncle dropping out in 1944 from the 10th grade in San Diego. That allowed him to misrepresent his age so he could go across the Pacific to fight the Rising Sun. Amid the worldwide turmoil, my life was that of a World War II kid in a segregated city in California that was the key to war in the Pacific. School was my life when the war ended.

To this day, children that Homan oversaw taken from their families have not been reunited with their families.

I didn’t support Claudia Scheinbaum for President of Mexico. I thought she was a run-of-the-mill leftist. Moreover, she was and is a puppet for AMLO, her political boss Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He was and is a radical leftist created and nurtured his entire political career by the PRI, the criminal political party that ran Mexico for seven decades. He ran for President in 2006, lost and pulled a Donald Trump before Trump, crying he was cheated. He lost again in 2012.

Once again, Donald Trump exposed his ignorance of American history when he questioned whether Vice President Kamala Harris could consider herself Black. Asking whether Harris is Black or Indian manifests a deep ignorance of how most U.S. states regrettably defined race by law for generations after the Civil War. Louisiana, for example, wrote into law that anyone who was one-sixteenth Black was legally 100% Black. Skin color and DNA had nothing to do with it. It was called the “one drop” rule.

When I was 13 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Texas was violating the Constitution by officially discriminating against people who looked like me. The court said Mexican Americans were due the same civil rights as white Americans. When I read the case, Hernandez v. Texas (May 1954), as a college student studying law, I loved the court, especially the new Warren court.
