Since Louis van Gaal promoted Thomas Muller, Diego Contento and Holger Badstuber to the first team between 2009 and 2011, no locally-born campus alumnus has become a regular starter in Bavaria. Defender Josip Stanisic came close last season but was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen and might never come back.
