We drew from Bacchi’s “What’s the problem represented to be?” or WPR framework to inform the data collection and analysis approach used in the study. Additionally, we drew from the qualitative descriptive (QD) methodology for its flexibility in adapting a conceptual framework, which ‘allows researchers to place their study findings within a larger context’ to develop knowledge on the topic [16].

Global HealthIntroductionThe celebration of difference will be meaningful only if it opens onto the fundamental question of our time, that of sharing, of the common, of the expansion of our horizon. The weight of history will be there. We must learn to do a better job of carrying it, and of sharing its burden. We are condemned to live not only with what we have produced but also with what we have inherited.

AbstractBackground Mozambique has experienced a series of tobacco industry consolidations both in tobacco leaf buying and processing, and in cigarette manufacturing and marketing. The growth of the tobacco industry presence in Mozambique was followed by an increase in tobacco industry’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. This is the first paper to describe the history of tobacco industry activities in Mozambique, a party to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).

Future of farming must be food not tobaccoThis year’s World No Tobacco Day theme, ‘We need food, not tobacco’, comes at a critical juncture in world affairs and converges with momentum being built around the implementation of Article 17 of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (alternative livelihoods). We are halfway through the Sustainable Development Goals (2015–2030), which call for transformation of global systems. Food systems feature prominently in this transformative agenda.
