لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.” (Quran, 33:21) Adab, rooted in Islamic tradition, embodies the refined behavior, etiquette, and virtues exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Human activities are destroying the planet and pushing other species to extinction. Fossil fuel burning, agriculture, and deforestation are causing pollution, climate change, and water scarcity. The excessive use of fertilizers and chemicals is contaminating soil and water, killing marine life. “Do not corrupt the earth after it has been set right. Call on Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near for the good-doers”  (Quran 7:56)My childhood was rather colorful.

Since the appearance of social media, our ways of connecting with each other have undergone a huge change. We meet and date online, keep in touch, and even marry online. The possibility of crossing geographical boundaries when looking for like-minded souls certainly has its advantages. But what about the contras? This article was written a few years ago, when Facebook started to impact our relationships with love and the search for marriage. What do you think about these changes?

I’m single. So what?’She was clearly irritated. It was the gazillionth time she had to answer the same question, and hear that judgmental tone. What is so wrong with not getting married? Is life all about marriage and having kids? Is she incomplete just being herself? Deep inside, she was unsure. She felt vulnerable. Everyone she met hinted at marriage. There must be something wrong with her. In most traditional societies, a woman is generally and most commonly seen as a mother and wife.
