Women who initially experience infertility face an increased risk of developing systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARD) within 9 years after childbirth compared with their counterparts without infertility, according to a new study published in Human Reproduction. The women at the highest risk of SARD in the study did not use fertility treatments to become pregnant. Infertility is becoming increasingly prevalent, with approximately 12% to 25% of women experiencing infertility.
