Tana River County requires Sh55 million to fund educational programmes for its Technical and Vocational Educational Training Institutions (TVETS). Governor Dhadho Godhana told senators that his administration was finding it difficult to provide quality classrooms due to the effects of flooding and drought.
Appearing before the Senate Education Committee, chaired by Betty Montet (nominated), Godhana said that its Early Childhood Education Centres (ECED) have a gap of 461 teachers.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for more than 8,000 healthcare workers contracted under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) at the height of Covid-19 pandemic. National and county governments struck a deal yesterday that will see 8,500 healthcare workers – most of them discharging services in county health facilities – absorbed on permanent and pensionable terms.
They were employed on contract under the UHC programme by county governments in 2020.

A Senate Committee has put the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) on the spot for blatant disregard of the law and failure to remit more than Sh800million in contribution from the Technical University Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme. On Wednesday, the White House clarified that the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods coming into the United States are 145 percent. The total now includes the recent hike to 125 percent from 84 percent that US President Donald Trump announced, as well as a 20 percent fentanyl-related duty that the president had previously imposed. The US leader further charged that he had temporarily reduced the tariff rates on imports from most countries, except China, to 10 percent for 90 days.
