    Whenever someone insisted they didn’t receive an email from a me, I simply assumed that it was the fault of the recipient. The message had been overlooked or inadvertently deleted. However, two recent email incidents ended that assumption. An important email I was expecting never arrived. Previous emails from the same sender had been received without incident, so I phoned and was told the message had been dispatched to my correct email address several times.

It’s filled with file folders arranged in alphabetical order, which are filled with subfolders, some holding hundreds of files. On a Windows computer, the main storage folders have the descriptive names Music, Pictures, Videos, and Documents. Theoretically, subfolders should be labelled by description and date and contain only relevant files.

    Two internet events during the past week were quite fascinating. One reminded me of the early days of the internet, and the other gave me a glimpse of an online future which could be quite threatening, or amazing, depending on your outlook. If you are middle-aged or older you probably remember “surfing the web.” Back in the ‘90s, the internet was a novelty, and the first effective search engine was Yahoo, where actual people manually catalogued and indexed websites.
