Members of the Snack Is A Snack Football Club (SIASFC) involved in the assault of a referee during the final of the Makamu Festive Games apologised for their unsporting behaviour. The SIASFC players and coach took up the responsibility to ask for forgiveness from the sponsor of the games Bishop Israel Makamu, as well as to the organisers, referee and their opponents, the Kathorus Juventus FC (KJFC), at the Endless Hope Bible Church in Alberton on January 12.

Lakhishwa Holdings in Mapleton, north of Kathorus, is a township waste recycling company that aims to keep the environment clean and tackle youth unemployment. After several children fell sick and some died in Katlehong, Thokoza and other areas in Gauteng over suspected food poisoning, residents of Vosloorus picketed and closed down the Vosloorus Cash and Carry warehouse on November 18. Scores of residents barricaded the entrance to the shopping complex on Barry Marais Road where the warehouse is based, barely walking distance to the Vosloorus Police Station.

The Lesedi Athletic Club (LAC) appeals to people to support its annual half-marathon fundraiser at the Vosloorus Stadium on Reconciliation Day, December 16. The fundraising road race will have races covering 5km, 10km and 21km. Two young traditional healers, Ntokozo Khumalo (22) and Owami Maphosa (18) who drowned during a traditional cleansing ritual ceremony at the Zonkezizwe River on October 27, were laid to rest in separate funerals on November 2. They drowned while attending a traditional cleansing ceremony, which is normally performed by traditional healers in a river. Their lifeless bodies were recovered later on the day of the tragic event.

The ceremony event was at the Thokoza Youth Centre. The league that has been running in Thokoza for years has transitioned from the TLFL to the Phakwe Group Soccer League but is still under the authority of the Thokoza Local Football Association(TLFA). The coaching D licence course ran from September 21 to 28 as part of the festival. The licence qualifies all 34 coaches to professionally coach players in the foundation or introduction phases – players younger than 12.
