It was the start of more than half a century of involvement with Rural Women New Zealand. Macaulay, a farmer’s daughter, had moved from the green hills of west Otago to the rocks, matagouri and rabbits of the Strath-Taieri region when she married Keith. It was somewhat of a culture shock, “but I grew to love it”.
