For years, if you said 'neutral' to me, I'd immediately think of beige, magnolia, and maybe grey. The latest Crown Paints' colour launches have changed all that and made me rethink what I define as a neutral, as a new type of vibrant neutrals is taking over colour schemes in 2025. It's been three years since Crown added any new colours to its popular Walls & Ceiling range, so it takes a significant paint trend to break through and be worthy of a new addition.

I am a sucker for a Morris & Co pattern, but even I'll admit it can be done well and it can be done badly. Habitat's Morris & Co collection is a clear example of how to do it well. It carefully paired the patterns with pieces of furniture inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, and the standout star for me was the Merton Sunflower armchair. The collection originally launched in September with the armchair sold out in under a month, along with the other sellout success, the Canterbury armchair.

I love a film night in, and I'm not alone. So many of us love our movie nights at home, it has led to the rise of the cinema sofa. It might be this year's breakout furniture trend, but I'm less than convinced of its appeal in a living room. Several sofa brands have launched a version of the 'cinema sofa' in the last year. These sofas are a level up from the recliner sofa trend, including Bluetooth, charging pads, mini fridges and even 4D vibrations.

Open shelving can look incredible on social media and in photoshoots, whether in a kitchen, living room or bathroom. But do they work in real life? After trying them out in my home, I'm not convincedOver the last few years, open shelving has become a huge home decor trend, and I was desperate to try it out when I moved into my new home. When I finally added some to my kitchen, while I found the styling fun at first, I realised couldn't live with them long-term.

A few weeks ago, I bought my first home, a ground-floor flat in London. I didn't have a sofa, a dining table or a wardrobe, but before I even started looking at furniture, there was one £10 buy I bought almost as soon as I moved in: a letter box draught excluder. A letterbox draught excluder costs around £5-10 on Amazon and is an internal flap that fits onto a door and often includes a brush seal.
