Have you seen that trend on TikTok where people freeze whole eggs in their shells, then peel, slice and fry them? Ickiness aside, it makes for quite compelling viewing, as each individual slice cooks and looks like a tiny little egg. (Image: @instafoodnz)Cute, but not recommended. It’s a food safety thing, apparently. Yes, it is possible to freeze whole eggs, as well as egg whites and egg yolks separately. We spotted a few comments on a fairy bread video online from people in Holland saying that they have their own version of sprinkles on buttered bread that they serve at parties, so we immediately got into research mode. Confession time. I love the supermarket freezer aisle – it might even be my favourite aisle. Not because it houses all my favourite foods, but because it is a treasure trove of surprise food products that I didn’t even know existed (the International aisle comes in a close second). It turns out I wasn’t the first person on the team to recently find this little delight.
