Big Cat Rescue, which was featured in the 2020 hit “Tiger King,” finalized the sale of 56 of its 67 acres on Dec. 24, 2024. According to Howard Baskin, husband of Carole Baskin, the site is being planned for townhome construction.

Pull out your sweaters, Tampa Bay—it's time for a cold front. Starting Wednesday, ABC Action News meteorologist Greg Dee said we'll see highs in the 60s and 70s and a few showers. Thursday through Sunday, highs will then struggle to get out of the 60s (so be prepared to bundle up). A chilly weekend is also on the horizon, with potential temperatures for Saturday morning currently in the mid-to-high 40s. Tampa last saw a forecast this low on Feb. 26, or 266 days ago.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A student was hospitalized after she shot herself on a middle school bus in Pinellas County on Tuesday. The St. Petersburg Police Department said officers are investigating at 49th Street North and 18th Avenue, where twenty students were on the bus being taken to Tyrone Middle School when the incident occurred. Officers said the 13-year-old girl was the only one in possession of the gun, and no other students were involved or hurt.

PETERSBURG, Florida (WFTS) — Firefighters rescued a mother and her teenage daughter after a St. Petersburg home went up in flames early Wednesday morning. St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said crews responded to the two-story home on Bayside Drive South around 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found flames engulfing the entire structure and spreading rapidly, threatening homes nearby.
