    CCTV footage at Oakley Court, a retirement home on Southampton Road in Ringwood, showed an unknown man stealing the famous vacuum cleaner. The footage helped Hampshire police officers uncover the registration of the vehicle used in the theft. A 47-year-old man was subsequently interviewed and admitted to the theft. Later, the hoover was found in a "buy and sell" shop in Shirley and was returned to Oakley Court on Saturday.

    In the forest village of Emery Down, horse Tyse and his owner had been riding along an unfamiliar route when they began to sink into what appeared to be a normal patch of grass at around 4pm on June 16. Hampshire firefighters from Redbridge headed to the scene, being supported by specialist animal rescue teams from Lyndhurst and Winchester. Under the guidance of a local vet, crews had to use a "barrel technique", also known as a fireman's carry, to free the 16-hand horse from the bog.
