Two seasons ago, David Simoneaux left his post at Catholic High for the top job at Central. His gambit, from one District 4-5A school to another, was as audacious as it was surprising. Yet the move has so far paid off, distinguishing the 41-year-old as one of the top prep football coaches in Louisiana. The Wildcats went 11-10 across the two seasons before they pried Simoneaux away from the Bears. Since then, Central is 22-5 and the reigning Division I nonselect champion.
