    Estonia's Year of the Estonian Book is not being celebrated for the first time. "The tradition began in 1935, when the 400th anniversary of what was then considered the first known book in Estonian — the catechism by Wanradt and Koell — was celebrated.

    The center is surrounded by the four historic city districts which date back to the Middle Ages. However, the exhibition, put together by the Estonian Museum of Architecture, focuses on the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when the surroundings were vastly different from today. This is the first time the museum has held an exhibition outside its own building. "It's actually an inevitability that architecture cannot be brought into a museum; you have to go to the site.

    The series of works is titled "The Laughter of Lines is Not an Easy Thing to Listen To."According to Kuutma, her need to draw developed during her time at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) already, when sculpture and graphic arts students started off their school days in Kaljo Põllu's drawing classes. To this day, she continues to capture the present moment, both within herself and her surroundings, on paper, and has discovered many similarities between clay and charcoal along the way.

    Eesti Arhitektuurimuuseumi avas Arteri keskuses näituse "Arter nelja asumi vereringes", mis tutvustab Tallinna kesklinna asumite kujunemislugu. Hiljuti avatud Arteri ärikeskuse ümber on neli ajaloolist linnaasumit: Veerenni, Keldrimäe, Sibulaküla ja Maakri. Esimesed asustuse märgid sealkandis ulatuvad keskaega. Näitus keskendub aga 19. ja 20. sajandi vahetusele, mil ümbruskond erines praegusest suurel määral. Arhitektuurimuuseumi jaoks on näitus väljaspool oma maja uus kogemus.

    Muusikafestival MustonenFest toimub sel aastal 15. korda ning viib kokku tippmuusikud ja lapstalendid, kes on juba varajasest east pühendunud mõnele instrumendile. Eestist astub festivalil üles 11-aastane MUBA õpilane pianist Erik Hagi. 23. jaanuaril Narvas ja 25. jaanuaril Tallinnas toimuval kontserdil esinevad teiste seas 12-aastane Iisraeli pianist Arien Henin ja meie klaverivirtuoos Irina Zahharenkova.
