Minnesota Frost fans gathered in St. Paul Wednesday to celebrate the Professional Women’s Hockey League team’s second championship win in two years. The Frost is the only team to win the Walter Cup in the young league’s first two years. They defeated the Ottawa Charge Monday night, winning Game 4 in St. Paul in the best-of-five PWHL Finals. Last year, Minnesota won on the road against Boston, so this year’s win at home was even sweeter for the players and fans.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota leaders and the public honored veterans Monday, May 26, at the Memorial Day Program at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar paid tribute to Minnesota veterans, including Master Sgt. Max Beilke, reportedly the last combat soldier to board the last plane out of Vietnam. He was later killed inside the Pentagon on Sept. 11. “We remember the courage of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and the heroic strength of their loved ones,” Klobuchar said.

Kao Thao has always connected with the outdoors. As a young boy growing up in Laos, he said he vividly remembers a family garden filled with vegetables. Thao also recalled fleeing his birthplace when he was six or seven with his parents and seven siblings to go to refugee camps in Thailand. “I do have small memory of going through the jungle,” he said. “Just being out there in nature and in time.”In 1980, the Thao family settled in St. Paul where two additional siblings were born.

The driver charged in a crash that killed two people and injured nine others at a St. Louis Park restaurant last year entered a guilty plea in Hennepin County District Court on Wednesday. At a hearing this morning, 56-year-old Steven Frane Bailey pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree murder and three counts of criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm. Under terms of a plea deal, Bailey will serve up to 30 years in prison.
