In a bid to protect lives and property and address flooding during the rainy season, Oyo state government has approved immediate dredging of 11 flood-prone rivers across the State, including Iseyin, Oyo, Ibadan, Igbo Ora, Ogbomoso, among others. To this is end as the state is taking proactive measures in addressing flooding, the Ministry of Environment has been given the go-ahead to procure more compactor trucks to enhance refuse collection in the municipality.

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has cleared the air on the plan to apply Sharia Law in some states of the South-West, including Oyo, noting that his administration will not oppose anything that is in line with the Constitution. The clarification came against the backdrop of a media report that the Oyo State Government would go to court to challenge the plan.
