As the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, and the primary cause of cancer death in women globally,1 breast cancer continues to be a significant public health issue. Although widely recognized risk factors, such as genetic mutations, reproductive history, and lifestyle choices, contribute to breast cancer risk, they do not account for a majority of the disease,1–3 and many of these factors are not easily intervened upon.
