Shifting priorities in the face of U.S. trade tariffs, which might come as early as Monday, might mean the shelving of a key BC NDP promise. Premier David Eby is stressing his government's focus will be on making sure British Columbians affected by the proposed tariffs are supported. He made the comments Thursday when asked what will become of the $1,000 grocery rebate promised during the fall's provincial election.

The first tower proposed under the City of Vancouver's Broadway Plan - meant to greatly increase density along a corridor that will soon feature a subway - passed unanimously at city council Thursday evening. The public hearing began Tuesday night, with many speakers coming out to oppose or support the 19-storey rental highrise, which is set to be located along East 10th between Main and Fraser. The street is currently lined with single-family homes and large trees and is a designated bike path.

The RCMP and the federal government are already bracing for an influx of asylum seekers into Canada, fearing Donald Trump's vow to throw out millions of illegal migrants. A tonne of us journalists - former and current - have gone through the formative @RadioNLNews newsroom. I think about them, and I think about those who lost their jobs today. Hats off to NL - a station that always punched above its weight in BC.
