Artificial intelligence (AI) has become ubiquitous in this digital age. However, AI today exists with inherent biases, particularly those deployed for use in the areas of finance, employment, law enforcement, and housing. The use of AI in such sectors has exacerbated societal prejudices. For example, the adoption of facial recognition by law enforcement has led to wrongful convictions of innocent individuals of color due to AI technology’s inaccuracies and biases.

On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his prolific “I Have a Dream” speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. More than 250,000 people attended the gathering and took in both his words and sentiments around achieving a better democracy that provides Black Americans with untethered access to civil rights, and the unimagined possibilities that come with having equal opportunities.
