Cal Fire says the burn will be at the Loafer Creek Recreation area and will last three days. They say the controlled burn will set fire to 160 acres, and go through Wednesday. Cal Fire says to watch out for smoke and reminds people that several trails in the area will be closed throughout the week.

Additionally, five people were hospitalized with various injuries due to subsequent crashes that occurred after the pedestrian was struck. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Red Bluff said the crash happened just after midnight on Monday, Oct. 7.
