«Quando ho compiuto sessant'anni, ormai molto tempo fa, con mia moglie feci un viaggio in Giappone, e visitai il tempio di Ise. Sa perché è importante il tempio di Ise? Viene distrutto e rifatto ogni vent'anni. In Oriente l'eternità non è costruire per sempre, ma di continuo. I giovani arrivano al tempio a vent'anni, vedono come si fa, a quaranta lo ricostruiscono, poi rimangono a spiegare ai ventenni. È una buona metafora della vita: prima impari, poi fai, quindi insegni.

When you want to expand an iconic building from the past, whom do you call? The case of Kimbell Art Museum was a long one emphasized by the fact that it was designed by one of the very best American architects to have graced the earth: Louis Kahn. The old Kimbell Art Museum was conceived in 1964 upon the death of Kay Kimbell and born in 1972 when the building was realized in Fort Worth, Texas. It was the last building to be seen to completion by Louis Kahn.

Project description by Renzo PianoThe Istanbul Modern Museum in the historic Beyoğlu district of Istanbul is located on the waterfront of the western bank of the Bosphorus Strait, facing the Sultanahmet quarter. A new building will replace the existing one currently located between the old city streets of the Galata Quarter and the existing port cruise terminal.
