California commercial salmon fishing will not happen for the third year in a row. The Pacific Fishery Management Council voted to close commercial salmon season for the remainder of the year. This decision will allow for the first recreational salmon fishing in California since 2022 the PFMC also recommended a repeat year of closure for California’s commercial salmon fisheries.

Watsonville police said they have arrested a man connected to an attempted murder case from Sunday evening. Police say a dispute between two men turned into a shooting near 100 Seneca Court. A 46-year-old victim was taken to an out-of-county trauma center and is expected to survive. 41-year-old Jose Fernandez was arrested Monday for the crime.

Greenfield police believe that a man accidentally crashed into the post office on Friday. The incident was reported at around 2 p.m. and firefighters responded to the scene of the crash at the post office. An 82-year-old man drove into the side of the building after believing his car was in reverse and hitting the gas. He accelerated over the curb, onto the sidewalk, and stopped after hitting the building, per police. His 90-year-old wife was a passenger in the vehicle.

Salinas police say that a man was killed Saturday morning in a shooting.The shooting was reported at 9:30 a.m. near Sanborn Place and Pellet. When police arrived they found a man in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and he died from his injuries at the scene. No arrests have been made and detectives are actively working on the case.
