    HAMILTON – Katie Simonka had the perfect game plan for beating an undefeated team. Just don’t let them hit the ball. The senior was spectacular Monday in firing a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Steinert defeated Bordentown, 2-0, in a battle of area heavyweights. While handing the Scotties (6-1) their initial loss, Simonka threw the first seven-inning no-hitter of her career. She previously had one in four innings and one in five. But she wasn’t really sweating it out.

And it’s at a very exclusive table, as 23 new members from 11 schools will be inducted to the 2nd Annual Mercer County Track & Field Hall of Fame.     LAWRENCEVILLE – With Rylee Michalak safely throwing softballs some 1,600 miles away in Texas, Colonial Valley Conference batters figured they could stride to the plate against Notre Dame with a little more confidence this season. Bianca Pesce thinks otherwise. The senior right-hander fired a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk in hurling the Irish to a 10-0, five-inning victory over Robbinsville Tuesday. “There’s nobody better than Bianca,” Irish first-year coach Mike McQuarrie said.

In Foundation of Science I, students learn that stars are born in vast clouds of gas and dust called nebulae.
