Darris Nichols has his work cut out for him, that’s for sure.
The new La Salle men’s head coach, formally introduced in a press conference Monday morning, jumps right in to lead a program that hasn’t had a winning season since 2014-15, inheriting a roster that’s almost entirely in the transfer portal, in an era where it’s become harder and harder to win at any place that isn’t flooded with NIL money — which the Explorers, certainly, are not.

Zane Conlon’s final high school game will be the culmination of a prolific career coming to an end, but it will also be a connection to his childhood as he prepares for both the biggest game of his life and the school he almost attended.
Conlon and Devon Prep will meet Berks Catholic in the PIAA Class 4A Championship Game on Thursday night at the GIANT Center in Hershey as the Tide look to secure their third state title in four seasons.

St. Joe’s Prep has undergone some major changes from last season.
Jalen Harper and Matt Gorman moved on, with Harper choosing to do a prep year at the Newman School (Mass.) and turning his additional season into a commitment to Rhode Island. Gorman committed to Catholic University and the departure of those two left two starting spots in the Hawks rotation.

RADNOR — It wasn’t until her eighth grade year that Nyah Yao made a call that would change her high school years — and most likely beyond — quite considerably.
Though the Radnor middle schooler had been a swimmer growing up, she’d been interested in basketball, her father David playing it in his high school years out in California. Looking for a new athletics outlet, she asked her dad if she could join a fall basketball league and give hoops a shot.

After going behind her back off the dribble to get the ball across the timeline, the North Penn senior gave it up for a second then quickly got the ball back. Following a couple between–the-legs dribbles and a few changes of direction later, Crowley got to the top of the lane, took a look for a pass then calmly sank a jumper to seal up a much-needed first win.

Ava Renninger felt the rush of emotion engulf her, the referee’s whistle still echoing in her ear.
With two minutes left in a tie game on the road, Renninger had just left her defender reaching at shadows as she made a back-cut to the rim. Renninger went up, drawing contact but finishing anyway for the and-one on the game’s go-ahead basket.
